Fred Carbon Footprint Calculator
FRED makes it possible to map the product carbon footprint (PCF) that is generated during a component manufacturing process.
In future, we will be able to map our individual process chain and all parameters influencing the production of a component and calculate the resulting CO2 emissions specifically for the respective component.
The evaluation shows the respective hotspots in the process and a breakdown by scope 1 to 3. The tool meets the requirements of ISO 14067/69 and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol GHG."
Out of concern for the environment, I have been recording the data for Federnfabrik Schmid with the FRED tool for a year now.
Thanks to the data obtained, I have discovered that we consume more electricity in some processes than we should. We have therefore defined the following immediate measures. These include optimizing our tools to make the best possible use of the machines' performance in order to produce as many components as possible in the shortest possible time. When it comes to heat and surface treatment, we always try to make the best possible use of the machines' capacity in order to process as many components as possible in a series.
As a result, we were able to reduce our energy consumption by over 100,000 kWh in 2023.
On request, we can calculate the emissions per component for our customers according to the above-mentioned standard and report them in accordance with DIN.
