The environment is close to our hearts. That is why we have taken a variety of measures within our means to make our contribution to a greener future.
In summer 2020, we installed a total of 600 solar panels on the roof of our factory building, which can supply a maximum of 195 kW of electricity over an area of 1500m2. The amount of electricity generated by solar radiation is used to operate our machines and equipment. If the sun should ever not shine, we obtain the electricity from a supplier who generates it exclusively without emissions.
In the heat treatment processes, FFS uses the best insulated furnaces according to the latest standards in order to significantly reduce heat loss and thus power consumption.
At our plant, employees use recyclable bottles provided for filling free water. Every day, employees are provided with approx. 10 kg of seasonal fruit from regional organic cultivation free of charge.
On rainy days, we can collect up to 20,000 liters of rainwater to reduce our fresh water consumption. The collected water is used for the toilet facilities, for example.
The nature, quantity and origin of substances are becoming increasingly important. Our suppliers, as well as we, are actively working to ensure that we can reliably implement the legal requirements, for example of REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals), RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and compliance with "conflict minerals".
Changing rooms and showers are available, so it is also possible to come to work by bike, reducing the number of trips to work by car.
